Chateau de Chillon (Av. de Chillon 21, Veytaux/Montreux) – this is an oval-shaped 13th century fortress occupying a stunning setting on the eastern shores of Lake Geneva. For 400 years, this castle was the residence of the Counts of Savoy. This architectural gem, in existence for 1,000 years, has inspired writers from Lord Byron to Victor Hugo, and is now famous for its wine as well as its history. Admission: CHF 12.50 (adult), CHF 10.50 (seniors, students, disabled), CHF 6 (children 6-15 years). Hours: 9:00 am – 7:00 pm (daily/April-Sept.), 9:300 am – 6:00 pm (daily/October), 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (Nov. – Feb.), 9:30 am – 6:00 pm (daily/March).
