HR Giger Museum (Château St. Germain, Gruyères) – this museum showcases the largest collection of works by Swiss artist H.R. Giger (1940-2014), a long-time resident of Zürich. This museum encompasses his paintings, sculptures, furniture and film designs — dating from the early 1960’s until the present day (including the Hollywood film “Alien”). Giger won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects for “Alien” in 1980. Located in the adjoining wing of the museum complex, above the Giger Museum Bar, is the H.R. Giger Museum Gallery where, for the benefit of museum visitors, Giger exhibits the work of other artists on a regular basis.
Admission: CHF 12.50 (adult), CHF 8.50 (seniors/students/military), CHF 4 (children). Hours: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (daily/April – October), 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (Tuesday – Friday/Nov. – March), 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (weekends/Nov. – March) – closed on Mondays.
